I have for sale a very nice 1927 Ithaca NID 20 Gauge Shotgun with original 26” barrels. This gun will amaze you with how tight and like new the action still is. It has gone grey with time but shot very little. When you open the barrels, it is still tight and they “bounce back up” when opened. Those familiar with double barrel actions that are not worn out will know what I mean. The automatic safety works as it should. The bores are mirror bright and have not been honed. Just a beautiful set of barres. They measure nominal 20 gauge. Chokes are marked M/F and have not been touched. They measure .015 right barrel and .025 left and pattern correctly at 40 yards Modified/ Full with 7/8 Oz. loads. I would rate the barrel bluing at nearly 100%. The stock is sound with no cracks or gouges. The original flat top checkering is worn from carrying especially on the forend but still in good condition. There is a well repaired toe chip which did not damage the plastic buttplate. The LOP is 14 ¼”, DAC 1 5/8” and DAH 2 5/8”, great modern shootable dimensions. But the fact that makes this a wonderful bird gun is the weight. It weighs an amazing 5 lb 15 oz on my digital scale. Try finding a Parker 20 gauge that light. I like the earlier indicator Ithaca’s because they are much slimmer in the wrist than the later models and have a much better dynamic feel. For the price you will not find a better Grouse, Woodcock, Quail or Pheasant gun. This gun would be a great choice for a full restoration. These Ithaca 20 gauge NID’s are getting hard to find in good condition. Why pay thousands more for a Parker or Fox and not have as nice a hunting bird gun. There are no "bad" surprises with this gun as everything has been checked out. Thanks for looking. Please call me with any questions.
