Description:
If you have been looking for a nice vintage Ruger Blackhawk for your collection that you can enjoy as both a shooter and investment, this 1968 production gun would be an excellent choice.  This single-action Ruger Blackhawk is chambered in .357 Magnum and features a 3-screw frame design, a factory gloss-blue finish, a 4 & 5/8ths" inch barrel, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, adjustable target-style sights, and smooth American Walnut factory grips with silver and black Ruger medallions.  This Blackhawk remains in 100% original condition, it does not have the hammer-block safety modification that most Blackhawks have from the old factory recall.  The original gloss blue finish on this Ruger shows some light finish wear and minor handling marks but is still a very handsome revolver.  The vast majority of the finish wear is located in the flutes of the cylinder and in a light drag-line around the cylinder, and there is one small area of very light pitting behind and a little below one of the flutes.  All of the factory markings and the serial number are crisp and clear.  The bore in this Ruger is excellent with no pitting or visible erosion, and the rifling still has sharp lands and grooves throughout the 4 & 5/8ths" inch barrel.  The 6 chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and free from defects/pitting.  The factory polished hammer sides are still bright and have visible crossgrain, indicating that they have not been polished since leaving the factory.  The hammer sides show only a little bit of wear from contact with the frame sides when the hammer is dropped or worked.  The original factory Walnut grips are in very good condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage.  Both grips show only some minor dings and scratches from being carried and used.  Both grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle.  The action on this vintage Blackhawk is extremely smooth and precise, and it is perfectly "in-time" at any speed of operation.  These 60's vintage Blackhawk actions really have to be felt to truly be appreciated.  You can tell that despite it being a "regular production" gun, there was a lot of care that went into hand-tuning the action at the factory.  The hammer still has all 3 notches intact from the safety position to half-cock to full-cock.  All of the controls on this revolver are in perfect working order, including the adjustable rear target-style sight.  All in all, this 1968 Ruger Blackhawk is a solid and handsome example that should last another 50 years or more with no problems.
