Description:
Winchesters Model of 1876 "First Model Open Top" .45-75wcf. 28 inch factory Octagon Barrel. The serial number is 228X placing date of manufacture in 1877 a second year production rifle. Overall condition is very good with mostly a very nice even patina with maybe 20% blue remaining mostly in protected areas. The bore is near perfect with strong rifling and shine from breech to muzzle. I would rate the bore an 8-9 on a 1 to 10 scale. The brass follower is untouched with a very nice even mustard plum patina. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. The Single Set Trigger is mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is perfect with correct First Model Butt Plate wrapping around the toe. Exception First Model untouched!
