Description:
Sold  !!

This National Postal Meter .30 Caliber was mfg about 2/44, Serial No. 4269XXX. All of the component parts are correct for the date of mfg. I use four different publications for reference to be as accurate as possible. My favorite is R. C. Laraon's -2nd edition "M1 Carbine".In R. C. Larson's commentary he says that the NPM is in his opinion one of the highest quality carbines even thuough they made only 4 of their own component's. This to me means that they had fairly rigid QC standards.
2nd would be US M1 Carbines -Wartime Producton by Craig Riesch 7the edition. I welcome any and all sugestions or corrections as the search and possession of these Carbines of any Wartime period that are
composed of original type parts is getting more difficult.
This particular NPM has an original type stock w/the proper cartouche "NPM/FJA"(.710 Square) blocked and the ordanance cross cannons (!/2" inch tip to tip) and in mint condition. The sling slot is oval and marked " Trimble
/TN" for Trimble Nursey & Firniture Co.".The matching  handgurd is the proper 2-hole w/"TN marked on the underside and also excellent. There are no dings ,scratches or blemishes on either piece.
The gun bluing all matching w/a nice medium gray parkerizing throughout.The receiver has the correct flip sight w/the small "s" on it's left and in small letters "TN" on the right. The sling, Oiler & magazine are not included.
The following are the component parts ;
Receiver - 3rd Bloc w/Narrow Tang, Rear Sight - Flip w/'s' on the L side and "TN" on the right, Barrel -
T1- Underwood  2-44 w/Flaming Bomb & "P" Proofmark, Front Sight T2 w/"sn", Bolt - T2 Flat w/"un",
Firing Pin & Extractor T-3, Triggger Hsg - T1 w/"N9", Sear - T2 w/"sn", Sear - T2 w/"sw-n", Hammer -
T3 w/"IN", Hmmer Spg - T2, Safety - T3 w/"sn", Mag Catch - T2A w/"MN", Oper Slide - T4 w/"un" in well,
Stock - T3 Trimble /TN marked in the sling well & the cartouche of a boxed .71 inch square w/the letters
of "NPM/FJA" and alongside the Cross Cannons measuring .50 at the tips, Handguard - T2 w/2holes marked "TN" on the undeside, Recoil Plate T1 w/"LN", Recoil Plate Screw - T1, Barrel Band - T1 w/'UN",
Buttplate - NPM.
This is to me an NRA excellent collector's piece.
