COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY, 1879 SHIPPED, 45 CALIBER 7.5" NY STYLE SCROLL ENGRAVED, NICKEL PLATED, DOUBLE RAISED CARVED PEARL STEER HEAD GRIPS.............SOLD.......The revolver shows 40 - 60% nickel that has evenly drifted and toned with good smooth surfaces. The markings on the barrel and patent marks on frame are correct and show very well. The grips are beautifully carved and fit nicely with a couple of small chips and are not original to this Colt. The action is good as well as the bore. All Serial Numbers match. Colt Factory Letter confirms caliber, finish, shipped to B. Kittredge & Company in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 7, 1879 as part of a 50 gun shipment. Barrel length, stocks and engraving not listed. The engraving is definitely of NY Style and very likely custom Engraved at the shop of L. D. Nimschke. Kittredge was Colt's major dealer in the west at this time and shipped many of their guns to the L.D. Nimschke Shop in NY for engraving. If additional photos are required, please let me know. This Colt is an antique and can ship directly to you except where prohibited. No sales to NY, NJ or CA. Shipping is included in price. Three day inspection period will be allowed along with full refund if returned unfired and no screws turned. Buyer responsible for cost of return shipping costs.
