Bore is clean and bright, cylinder locks up tight and the finish is in good condition, with some scratches and wear (see photos). Produced from 1988-1998. Taurus wanted to make a .357 Magnum revolver to most likely appeal to the police forces in Brazil at the time. Design-wise, it is very similar to a revered manufacturer who is famous for large frame, quality revolvers. The Model 689 stayed in production for about 10 years and then Taurus stopped producing the revolver. The Model 689 was also seen in various films such as 1995 Jumanji, where David Alan Griers deputy character packed a version of this model on film, this actual firearm was sadly not used in any films. This revolver is a great magnum shooter for anyone who enjoys the beauty of a classic, and also the versatility of shooting the .357 magnum caliber or the popular.38 special caliber rounds as well.
