Description:
SOLD-SOLD. Super Rare Unfired Colt Detective Special 2" .38 Spl Two Tone Electroless Nickel in Mint Condition. The Electroless Nickel was only available through Colt's Custom Shop. The particular Colt Detective has a Two Tone Electroless Finish. Colt made Two Tone Detective Special Revolvers in both Blue and Nickel from about 1946-1954. The Two Tone finish consists of a satin (bead blast) finish inside the cylinder flutes, the cylinder face, around the perimeter of the frame, muzzle, backstrap, and trigger guard. Both the trigger and hammer are polished on the sides, and satin finish around the perimeter. Even the cylinder release latch has a satin body and a polished bull nose. The rest of the cylinder and sides of the revolver have a bright almost mirror polish. What sets this particular Colt Detective Two Tone apart from the early offerings, is it is done in Electroless Nickel. A Colt Letter lists the finish as Electroless Nickel. There are no marks, or turn line on this beautiful Colt Detective Special. The Factory Wood Stocks are in mint condition. A beautiful one-of-a-kind Colt Custom Shop Revolver! Offers considered.
