Patriotic EARLY AMERICAN Antique OFFICER’S SABER with EAGLE HEAD POMMEL
IVORY Grip, Nitre Blue and GOLD Finish
Here we present an early American Officer’s Saber with an Eagle Head Pommel and Ivory Grip. The ‘Eagle Head” sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and into the 1830s. This saber has an overall length of 33-1/2” with a 28" curved blade with gold-accented etching and nitre blue finished blade and an ivory grip. The scabbard is of leather.
The overall condition is very good. The blade has retained much of its original blue finish and is adorned with gold inlayed U.S. symbolism. The leather scabbard is missing the drag/chape exposing the blade’s tip when sheathed. The scabbard is in good condition but is fragile. This is a stunning piece of American history!
