Personal Check with hold Description: This is a very nice Colt Single Action Artillery Revolver with "Scarce" Custer Range Parts. . Caliber. 45 Colt. Serial number# 115358 (frame). Usual configuration. Barrel . 5 1/2". Thinned front sight & 1 line script letter address with daggers at each end. Left side of frame has 3 line patent dates & "U.S" Marked . Mounted with 1 piece walnut grip with no discernible cartouche. Ejector housing has bullseye ejector rod head. Base pin is early style has dimpled ends. The following Serial numbers 's were observed: #9752 on barrel.; #4927 on trigger guard & “A” Ainsworth inspector initial; #664 (partial number) on the buttstrap & #4046 on the cylinder. with Ainsworth "A" initial. Trigger guard (from group 4) & cylinder from . (group 5) were issued probably to US Cavalry in January 1874 are "Custer Range". Kopec & Fenn in their 1994 "Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers" list Serial numbers #4949 & #4955 as 2 of only 13 lot 5 guns with documented 7th Cavalry association. Revolver is in very good condition, with strong traces of arsenal refinish retained in protected areas, address weak, overall a smooth gray patina. Grip has chipped and shows shrinkage, from age.
