U.S. Model 1896 Krag .30-40 Krag caliber rifle. The models 1892 and 1896 were the primary U.S. small arms of the Spanish-American War. This rifle has the correct 30” round .30 Army (.30-40) barrel with an excellent bore. It has the original 1896 rear sight and hand guard. The barrel has approximately 92% original finish turning blue/brown with light roughness at the muzzle. The remainder of the metal has an even brown patina. Hand guard is fine with no cracks or chips. The stock is very good with a medium dent at the right wrist and the expected dings to be found on an issued military rifle. The action functions correctly. Unaltered Model 1896 rifle like this one is getting harder to find.
