U.S. Model 1870 Springfield Trapdoor .50-70 caliber rifle. Indian Wars Springfield Infantry rifle. 32½” Round barrel with fair bore with roughness toward the muzzle. Blue/ brown finish overall, possibly an old arsenal blue job. Breech block is marked “model/ 1870” eagle/ Crossed arrows/ “US”. The lock is dated “1863”and has the eagle and “U.S. / Springfield”. The stock is very good with three cartouches and no cracks or chips. The cleaning rob is a replacement. The action functions correctly. This is a good representative U.S. model 1870, especially with the three cartouches.
