Payment Types Accepted: money order Description: Here is a very nice 2nd Allin Conversion. These were made after the Civil War using muzzle-loading muskets, then obsolete, by cutting away part of the breach and adding a trapdoor, This conversion allowed the use of metallic cartridges with a substantial improvement in firepower compared to reloading a muzzle-loader. This was the rifle used in both the Hayfield Fight and the Wagonbox Fight. Fetterman and his men would have loved to have had these. The trapdoor arrangement was still in use as late as the 1890s although then in .45-70 caliber. This particular conversion has a very nice bore, The action works perfectly and the gun should be a good shooter with proper black powder or equivalent ammunition. The metal work is in good shape as is the stock; no cracks or missing wood but 160 years of dings and dents. A faded cartouche is present on the left side of the stock as well as the "P" on the wrist. A nice piece of history that can still take a deer. Much nicer than many of these I see offered. $60 shipping and insurance to the lower 48, No paperwork for an antique unless your local law prohibits.
