Description:
Inv. 7777
Meriden (Triplett & Scott Pat). Carbine, Cal. .50 Spencer, Outstanding condition and very Scarce. The condition of this scarce Civil War and very unusual Civil War Era repeater is super. There were only 5000 of these were ever made and they were ordered to delivered to the Kentucky Home guard. They were for the protection of General Sherman's food line. The gun appears to have acquired an attractive silky blue gray patina with just a few small patches of pin pricks. The receiver is still in the white with some very slight toning. The metal parts are remarkably free of rust on this 155 year old "ATTIC QUEEN". The receiver is indeed stamped Kentucky. The wood stock and forearm have retained about 85+% of the original lacquer and is devoid of any nicks an dings. However it has the usual split over the magazine tube found all Meriden carbines as a result of the wood shrinkage over the magazine tube. The unusual repeater mechanism works perfectly and the firing mechanisn appears to lock up tight and function properlyThe bore is mirror bright with razor sharp rifling. I doubt that this Attic Queen has any seen any use in the past. A real find for the serious investor/collector or reenactor and priced at only....SHIPPED..$2395.***
