"THE HARTFORD-HARTFORD".Colt 1849 6" Pocket Revolver. .31 Cal. Desirable Hartford barrel address.Very rare variation of the 1849 Pocket. Out of about 340,000 examples made, only about 620 had 6"barrels, in six shot (instead of 5), and the 2 line Hartford Address. Serial #203958. Manufactured in 1861. Inscribed to Corp. Gabriel B. Hartford of the 18th Connecticut Infantry KIA at Snickers Ford, Va. 18 July 1864. Hartford enlisted on 18 July 1862, exactly 2 years prior to his death. He was also captured on 15 June 1863 at Winchester, Va. Paroled a month later. Gun is all original. No original finish remains, just a beautiful natural patina. You'll love it! Has some silver left on trigger guard and backstrap. Most original varnish on grips. Action is fine. Gun was featured in the September 1980 issue of THE GUN REPORT. This is right after it was discovered by Tom LoPiano Jr. in Connecticut. Comes with a binder of military and pension records. Also an original copy of the 18th Connecticut Regimental. Thats rare!
