Description:
Japanese Arisaka Type 30 Rifle. In good looking condition, and maker marked from the KOKURA Arsenal in Tokyo. Known as the "Hook Safety Rifle" due the the unique hook shape of the safety lever. Produced from 1898 thru 1905 when the new Type 38 rifles were adopted. This was the principal Japanese rifle during the Russo-Japanese War and served as reserve arms and for training into WW2. The stock is in sound condition, correct 2 piece dove tailed stock with a few dings and dents. Exterior metal finish is blued on all metal parts and the triggerguard still have very strong blue . Bolt is brite with some roughness in that area like it had a spot weld of the bolt to frame?, with sandingmarks, now a functiuoning gun. Royal chrysanthemum has been canceled on the receiver top. Serial numbers on blot are different than the receiver. Chambered in 6.5 Japanese the bore has very good rifling but darker frosted grooves from wartime corrosive primers.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
