Description:
The first 5,000 Winchester Model 1895's were produced with flat side receivers. This early rifle made in 1896 features a 28 inch round tapered barrel chambered in 30 U.S. (30-40 Krag) caliber. Original sights include a pinned German silver blade front sight and a sporting buckhorn rear. Most original thinning blue remains on the barrel and bolt. Frame and box mag look very good with about half of the original blue with some wear to the high points which have turned a brown/gray patina. Hammer still retains good traces of original case colors. Schnabel tip forearm with ebony inlay. Walnut stock appears to be re-oiled and has some nice extra figure to it. Crescent rifle style buttplate has silvered out. Bore is good with strong rifling but would benefit from a good cleaning. Action is good. This is a scarce and desirable Winchester Model 1895 Flatside that would look good in your collection!
