Description:
The item for sale is a Newton Arms Co.rifle manufactured in Buffalo, New York chambered in the 256 Netwon caliber. The early Newton rifles manufactured in Buffalo are highly sought by collectors. This rifle is in very good condition. It features the scarce and desirable Newton factory peep sight. This rifle was not machined to accept the standard factory rear  barrel sight and was fitted with the factory peep sight for the customer. The original blue is nice and about 85% - 90% with most wear on the butt plate and floor plate. The wood is very good with only a few minor handling marks and the  factory checkering is in very good condition. There are no cracks in the wood as sometimes  found with Newton rifles. There is a small screw hole in front of the rear sling eye evidently from an early sling mount. The serial no. is 2960 and all numbers match (receiver, bolt, wood, butt plate, floor plate). The length of pull is approximately 12 1/2" . Apparently it was built for a smaller shooter, either at the factory or after it left the factory as it has the original steel but plate numbered to the rifle. The bore is very good withk strong rifling. Please add $45 for shipping and insurance. A C&R or FFL is required for shipping.
