Chambered in the delightful 450/400 2-3/8" Black Powder Express cartridge.

A lovely 6lb 5.4oz. rifle with a 25.5" Henry rifled barrel.
The bore is good, a bit frosty but with strong rifling.
Full coverage best quality scroll engraving typical of Henry's finest rifles.
Also typical of a best Henry is the beautiful walnut stocking with ornately shaped and engraved steel heel and toe plates to the checkered butt.
Horn grip cap and the trademark Alex Henry groove to the forend.
This rifle also has a beautifully sculpted shadowline cheekpiece which is not always found on best quality Henrys.
The fully engraved right hand lock has a front positioned stalking safety.
This particular rifle has the easiest to acquire sight picture of any Henry I've owned. The front bead sized to fall perfectly into the rounded notch in the shallow V rear. The perfect balance and light weight of this rifle help it to come to shoulder and point almost effortlessly.
The 450/400 2-3/8" was originally loaded with a charge of 80grs. black powder and a bullet weight of 230-270grs. yielding around 1750fps.
The European equivalent is the 10.3X60R and that brass can be used in this rifle.
Overall, an honest Henry of unmatched quality which one wouldn't fear taking afield! An ideal Deer or Hog rifle.
