Description:
The S&W Model No. 2 Army was made from 1861 to 1874, with 77,155 manufactured. The 6-shot single action revolovers were fitted with either a 4, 5, 6, or 8 inch octagon barrel, spur trigger, rosewood grips, non-fluted cylinder, fixed sights, blue or nickel finished, and were chambered in .32 RF only. This 1865 vintage No. 2 Army is as described, is fitted with a 6 inch barrel and is blue finished. The gun is in excellent original condition, retaining 40% of its original finish, the rosewood grips fit well and are in excellent condition, retaining 90%+ of their poriginal finish. The bore is shootable, with strong rifling, but there is light corrosion throughout. The action works perfectly and most screw heads are unmolested except for the pivot screw. Includes a Smith & Wesson letter stating gun was shipped as described, leaving the factory on September 21, 1865, and delivered to J.W. Storrs, located in New York City, NY. Also comes with a, what appears to be a periodcorrect, fitted wood case, which has had the liner replaced.
