Description:
The 3rd Model was produced from 1883 to approximately 1887. Serial number is 24,XXX. Retains approximately 80% flaking nickel on the barrel and frame and perhaps 50% on the cylinder; traces of case coloring on folding hammer. Standard 7” barrel with decent “frosted” bore and no deep pits. Frame stamped “Caliber Winchester 1873” (.44-40), barrel stamped with 1-line Merwin & Hulbert address. Matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. NOTE: Action is “stiff” but seems to work in double-action; however, it will not stay at full cock when used single-action. Original lanyard ring. M&H hard rubber grips with wear commensurate with the rest of the gun. Though there is little “suction” left, it is a good example of a large-frame Merwin that was used but not abused.
