Description:
The Enfield No. 2 MK1** is a British top-break revolver using the .38/200 (.38 S&W) round manufactured from 1932 to 1957.  It was the standard British sidearm in the Second World War, alongside the Webley Mk IV/V .455 and Smith & Wesson Victory Model revolvers chambered in the same calibre.  While it was sometimes derided for it's lack of "knock down power" in the .38/200 cartridge, that negative was offset by it's good accuracy, ease of use, and easy maintenance.  Four variations of the No. 2 MK 1 were produced.  The original No. 2 MK 1 which had a nice detailed machining, a high polish finish and featured a hammer spur.  The No. 2 MK 1* which featured simplifications to the design to help in manufacturing and removed the spur hammer.  The No. 2 MK 1** which further simplified the design with the removal of the drop safety and featured a "wartime" finish.  Lastly the No. 2 MK 1 which featured a shorter snubnose barrel.  This variation was commonly issued the British Tank Corps.  This particular example is the No. 2 MK 1** and was manufactured in 1943, is NOT import marked, and remains in excellent condition inside and out.  The original "wartime finish" blue rates 95%, with only minor handling marks and some tiny spots of finish marring.  The bore in the 5" inch barrel is like-new and pristine, with nice sharp rifling throughout.  The 6 cylinder bores are equally as clean.  The original wooden grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings.  Both sides are are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the grip frame.  All of the controls on this Enfield are in perfect working order, and the action is perfectly "in time".  This Enfield No. 2 MK1** should function just like the day it left the factory 76 years ago.  If you have been looking for an Enfield No. 2 MK1** for your collection here is your chance to get a very rare example of this famous World War two revolver.  Note this particular model does not have a drop safety. If dropped on a loaded cylinder it has the potential for an accidental discharge.
