Description: The Model 21-4 traces its origins all the way back to the .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model also known as the .44 New Century or the .44 Military Model of 1908. After taking going through the 2nd and 3rd Models, the .44 Hand Ejector 4th Model Military of 1950 came into being, often referred to as the pre-Model 21. This version was produced from 1950 until 1957 when the revolver was given the designation Model 21. It continued in production until 1966. In 2004, it was reintroduced as the Model 21-4. This time however, it featured a round butt frame instead of the square butt frame of the earlier versions. Other features included fixed sights, 4-inch barrel with pinned Half Moon service front sight and square notch rear sight, 6-shot fluted cylinder, .400-inch checkered hammer, .312-inch trigger, shrouded extractor rod, blue finish, and wood grips. The Thunder Ranch version is a special commemorative of the Thunder Ranch facility which teaches people how to shoot with all manner of firearms. In addition to the above features listed, the Thunder Ranch Model 21-4 also features an engraved side plate with 24 karat Gold Plating and the Thunder Ranch logo. The revolver also has a set of grips only present on this version. Approximately 2600 were manufactured. This example comes in like-new condition with a nice glass-lid wooden case signed by Clint Smith, the head of Thunder Ranch. Part of the “C” in “Clint” is worn but the rest is intact. The only visible sign of wear is a light turn ring around the cylinder, hence the “like new” condition. This revolver would make a nice collection piece.
