Original nickel finish in 30-40% range. Mfg in 1876 with the Four Inch barrel. All matching numbers throughout. Extremely tight gun. Excellent mechanics. Locks up tight. Very good bore. Original grips. Left grip has partial crack near screw. Four digit serial number from the first year of production. Short two year production run. Very nice survivor. Factory letter from Smith and Wesson on this one showing July 20th 1876 shipment to Trimble & Kleibacker Co Of Baltimore, MD. They provided numerous "Baby Russians" to the Baltimore City Police Department during the 1870's. Serial number 6593 within the range of the pieces provided to the City Police the first year of issue. Backstrap shows attempt to remove the engraved markings of "Balto City Police". Great History.
