Description:
SOLD   An English made BSA 1876 dated Martini rifle chambered for the .577 X 450 cal.with a veey good bore and deep rifling. better than most .  The Martini-Henry MkII rifle is best known for its use in the Zulu War at the Battle of Rorke's Drift on 22nd January 1879. This battle was the iconic defense of the mission station by a small force of British and colonial troops; which saw a record award of Victoria Crosses and restored the faith of Victorian Britain in the Army. .This work-horse was issued most lilely to Gurhka Nepali Troops to patrol the Northwest territory where England invaded Tibet and had many battles with Afghan. The English walnut has many battle scars, dings, and scars, including some patches of wood missing along the right side along the barrel, but the stocks are solid with the oil stained burrsrock having a round English proof as well as Nepali markings on the right side.Exterior metal is brown patina through-out Frame and breech of the barrel have profuse military proofs on the left side. The action is strong, and crisp, and this gun was fired by it's former owner several timeses with an original ram-rod, and a Victorian British Soldiers type white leather sling.
