A good strong, complete Remington Rolling Block No.1 Military full length rifle with a 36" round barrel and c;lean strong rifled bore, and some flecks of frost that should clean-up with a stainless steel brush Great gun to shoot. chambered for the .50-70 caliber. Exterior metal in the white as issued, and full Remington factory address on the top tang as well as a military or militia marking of large A over 18! The American walnut wood os very good , with light checkering on the wrist and a sliver missing on the lower left side of the forend wood.Side of breech barrel has proof of S and opposite on frame is a large B. These were issued to many state militias feom 1867 to about 1888.This model has the high hammer spur like the government contract, as well as the half cock safety created by Springfield Armory models with theoir contract. Comes with a iron cleaning rod. Has the long range rear target sight also. A nice rig.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
