Spanish blunderbus “Coach Gun" Miguelet lock. Highly embellished barrel with floral silver and gold inlays of fluer d’ lis and fantasy creatures and gold accent inlays. There is a gold makers sink (cartouche) on the top of the breech end of the barrel and additional sink on the bow of the trigger guard. Stock is a Madrid style form and is carved and checkered. The trigger guard bow and finial are engraved and chiseled. Barrel is dated “año 1818" (year 1818). This Blunderbus has a very substantial belt hook. The owner was no doubt an interesting figure to have worn such a weapon. This is a very good-looking decorated Blunderbus and one of the best of this type we have owned.
