Brace of FRENCH Antique LARGE BORE Target Pistols
Mid-19th Century European Pistols
Here we present a pair of antique Large Bore Percussion Target Pistols, made circa 19th Century in St. Etienne, France. This matching pair of single shot percussion pistols have gaping .70 caliber bores with small groove rifling. The barrels are 8-inch and fully octagonal. Small fixed notch sights are on the barrel tang. The front sight is a small blade. Stocks have fluted pistol grips and the pommels are equipped with lanyard rings. The trigger guards have a rest for the middle finger. The locks are back action and are marked “AURY ST. ETIENNE”. Ramrods are robust and all steel.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear. The stocks remain in good shape. The bores are in very good condition with sharp rifling. Small front sight is absent on one and the hammer spur is absent on the other. The actions are excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a very nice set of large bore French pistols!
