Description:

DMW Double Dated Inter-War POLICE LUGER Pistol

Made In Berlin in 1921

Here we present a DWM Double Dated “1920/1921” Police Rework Luger Pistol from the Inter-World War Period, made in 1921 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.

This DWM Double Dated “1920/1921” Police Rework Luger Pistol was part of a run of pistols made for the Weimar Republic government to fulfill needs for both the Army and Police. Only 5,000 were made total and are so-marked, making this a rare example. The Treaty of Versailles placed restrictions on weapons production and even configuration during this period. This pistol is marked with the “1920” government property mark. It was reworked to install the additional sear safety seen on the left side of the gun. It comes equipped with a WWII German military magazine. This pistol would have been the sidearm of a policeman during the violent clashes and rise to power of the National Socialist Nazi Party leading to the Second World War.

The overall condition is near fine. The original blue finish is about 55%. Straw colors are strong. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match, except the magazine, which is WWII German military issue. The grips are fine. The bore is in good shape with a slightly frosted appearance and good rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a very unique and rare piece of history!
