Description:
Here is one of the popular Remington Model 600 carbines in .308 Winchester chambering. This is the "Mohawk" variation, made to sell at discount stores and chain stores and fit with a stained birch stock instead of walnut, a brushed blue finish and no plastic vent rib.. It has a stiff, free floated 18.5" barrel and blind magazine. These guns are a popular starting point for a custom, fiberglass stocked rifle or make a great truck gun or spare rifle for deer camp. It may not be pretty with the impressed checkering but don't bet on it not shooting as well as any Remington. I bought this rifle new in 1979, hunted with it a couple of seasons and put it away for the next 40 years. The serial number of A6252048 is outside of the safety recall range (Model 600 and 660 rifles - except those with a serial number beginning with an "A" before the serial number - were subject to the 1979 recall). The proof dates "AI" on the barrel indicates March 1976.
It has somewhere between 80 and 100 rounds though it. I discarded the original nylon one piece floorplate/trigger guard which were subject to warping and replaced it with a Neil Jones Custom Products one piece aluminum guard. Uncle Mike's sling swivels were installed and a Pachmayr recoil pad added. The LOP is 13.75".
The original iron sights were removed, filler screws installed and a Simmons one piece base with projectionless rings installed. Ready for your scope. The original iron sights and owner's manual are included.
