Here we present a Luigi Franchi Sidelock Double Barrel Hammerless Shotgun in 12 Gauge, made circa the early to mid-1900s in Brescia, Italy. Franchi began manufacturing firearms in Brescia, Italy, in 1868. Brescia was a key part of Italy’s industrial heartland in the mid to late 1860s. In those days, gunmaking guilds isolated themselves to keep their metalworking techniques secret, so as not to give a competitor an edge. Franchi has long been know as one of the premier Italian manufacturers of high end shotguns.
This gun has ejectors.
The overall condition is good. The action is strong and tight. The bores are reflective and smooth. The receiver is finely engraved with traditional floral designs. The barrels show some light surface pitting that were refinished at some point. The walnut stock is solid and remains in great shape. The checkering is sharp, offering a tight grip.
