The interesting old horn measures 15 inches in length and has a nice scrimshawed image of a sailing ship and several names “Mr. Joseph Tillof (?) and Mr. George Squire" with an other line of type that has worn leaving only what looks like “HLLET" still visible – perhaps the ships name. There are also “J + W" carved above the ship and a grid design perhaps showing drying racks for the pelts. The original cork plug is held in place with screws and the wood plug is present. A great looking old horn that probably has many stories surrounding it and worthy of future research. SOLD Manufacturer: Powder Model: Horn |
