Description:
24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 38 WCF caliber with full length magazine tube. Very bright and shiny bore with a few light scattered spots of roughness. Features a Lyman ivory bead front sight, typical Winchester buckhorn sporting rear sight and a very interesting spring loaded tang sight that has been dove-tailed into the upper tang. Wood is most likely a 4X grade with most of the high gloss finish remaining. Shotgun style buttplate. This gun is in beautiful condition with about 95% heavy dark case colors. The case colors on the Second Models were darker than those on the Third Models. Gun has a set trigger. Action is good. Barrel and mag retain about 95% blue with some thinning. Bright case colors on the forend cap. Checkering is crisp and sharp. The Second Model checkering is courser than the later guns but looks good. This is a beautiful gun with a Factory Letter listing features and an 1880 manufacture date.
