Description:
For sale is a Merkel 147E 20 ga double barreled shotgun with double triggers and Holland & Holland auto-ejectors. This gun is used but in immaculate condition with mirror bores and without blemish of any kind. Its dimensions are pretty much standard for this model; barrels are 26.75 inches choked improved cylinder (VZ) and modified (1/2). The gun has 3" chambers. The length of pull from the forward trigger is 14 and 3/8", drop at comb of 2.5". The pistol-grip stock is 3/16" offset favoring a right-handed shooter. The gun is a boxlock and has a Greener crossbolt locking mechanism and side clips with cocking indicators. As is the case with these high quality German boxlocks, it closes like a bank vault. The wood is nicely figured walnut with sharp checkering; the gun has a splinter foreend. Sides of the silver-greyed receiver are finely engraved with ducks, pheasants and grouse; screws have never been turned. The gun was imported by GSI International; date of manufacture is February 1994 (2/94, as stamped on the receiver flats). It comes with the original box and warranty tags in German and English. I purchased this fine shogun new and unfired from a collector and have had it for over 20 years. It patterns beautifully and shhots to point of aim. During that time I have carried my Merkel in many hunts of pheasant and grouse, always making sure it was protected from mishap and the elements. I've always kept it clean and appropriately lubricated.
