Description:
This Midas upgrade is signed by Rene Doyen, the late FN/Browning master engraver on the left rear side of the action (his proper custom), and has a very fine professional custom restock by the late Roger Decker in Washington state. His checkering and shaping is outstanding on fine European walnut. Decker was one of the best and sought after stockers in the USA.

Wood and metal are 99% condition.  At 7 pds, 6 oz a great handing, great shooting as-new field gun. It is the lightest 12 bore Superposed game gun with 30 inch barrels I have ever seen, and I've not seen another staright grip with 30 inch VR barrels either; and to top it off- it is from the golden era quality wise as well-  just a very unique Superposed. Mod and Full chokes. Plenty of wall thickness to add Briley thinwall interchangable chokes if one wished to do so.

The scrollwork and engraving itself are excellent Doyen quality and the gold inlays are thick and heavy but not as finely detailed as the modern style is, but there is a lot of gold there. Doyen was older and possibly retired from FN when this work was done I'm sure. The gun is priced very attractively to reflect this.

Tight action, on-face and mechanically excellent condition. Screws as new, no marks. The unique straight grip is wonderfully sized and the checkering is superb- the long tang is fully engraved with no bluing loss -more  desirable "Y" upper tang. The trigger pulls are crisp and properly weighted, this gun was evidently totally refurbished when upgraded.  It has been shot very little since then. It came out of a well known Seattle collection and I dont believe it was shot by the collector after the upgrade was completed.

This gun just goes to the target or bird, I have shot both clays and pheasant with it and is one of the best handling Superposed I have ever shot, and I currently have 15 high grade Superposed so I need to downsize a bit.
A great high quality shooter, internally and externally as-new,  that will also turn heads and is priced to sell. SN 28858.
