Description:
This listing is for an A. J. Defourny Patent Self-Opening Sidelock ejector in 12 gauge mfg. 1935 with Defourny's improved Beesley- style self-opening action. As with the Henry Atkin self-opener, he and Defourny figured out a way to make the gun easier to close than the Beesley design that Purdey has used since 1880; a "poor man's improved Purdey", if you will. This gun has hidden Purdey third fastener, gold- plated internals, 2 3/4" Belgian proofed chambers with 28 1/4" ' Compressed Steel' barrels, blued frame and forend iron with line engraving, reinforced frame angle, straight grip/ splinter of straight-grained European walnut, horn butt with almost unnoticeable toe repair, and Anson forend release. This model has the same features as Defourny's Best grade, but minimal engraving and plainer wood. Weight is 6 lbs. 9 ozs. All in all, this is a top drawer quality gun for not much money. Free shipping to lower 48 except California.
