Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a nice all-original early-production TDE Auto Mag Model 180 in .44 AMP caliber complete with the original hard plastic factory box and owner's manual. The Auto Mag Model 180 is quite famous as one of the first operational big-bore automatics that gave shooters .44 Magnum power in a semi-auto pistol. With the design of the pistol taking a number of years starting in 1966 and remaining in development until 1971, the cost to bring the gun to market was immense. Offered for sale at long last in 1971, the large size, menacing looks, and big power of the pistol made it very popular to use in movies and novels of the period. This helped immensly with sales of the gun but the Auto Mag Corp could never produce enough or price them high enough to make a profit. This continued to be an issue as company after company went bankrupt trying to make this pistol and turn a profit. Today the Auto Mag Model 180 is sought-after by collectors as one of the truly unique big-bore automatics. This particular example is one of the very first guns made during T.D.E.'s acquisition of the Auto Mag Corporation and carries a North Hollywood address(even though the factory was actually in El Monte, California). It was was part of the "in-process" inventory at Auto Mag's factory when they went bankrupt the very first time and Trade Deed Estates bought them out. TDE completed the guns and sold them, and included the original Auto Mag Corp owner's manual with a large yellow sticker on the front explaining what was happening. This Auto Mag is in excellent condition mechanically and very good condition overall. The stainless steel shows some light pitting and staining on the left side, a common condition when left in the original foam-lined box for a long period. As you can see from the pictures, this does not carry over to the right side and does not detract too much from the cool looks of this pistol. The grooved vent-rib on top of the pistol features a set of stainless iron sights with the rear sight adjustable for both windage and elevation. The bore in the 6.5" inch barrel is bright and clean, free from any pitting, visible erosion, or imperfections of any kind. The rifling still looks sharp and prominent throughout the barrel. The original checkered black plastic grips on this Auto Mag are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage/wear. The checkering is still crisp and clean and the grips are both tight to the frame with no wiggle or play in them. The 7-round single-stack magazine is in excellent condition overall and has a very stout spring in it. The action on this pistol is slick and tight, and all of the parts fit nicely to one another. The hammer still has both the half-cock and full-cock notches intact. All of the controls are in perfect working order, including the safety, the magazine release, and the adjustments on the rear sight. We have tested this TDE Auto Mag Model 180 and it fires and functions flawlessy. This big boy comes with 9 rounds of factory loaded Cor Bon ammunition and 10 rounds of empty Cor Bon brass. The picture in the listing of the 3 rounds of ammo shows you the size of the .44 AMP round at top versus the .40 S&W and 9mm Luger cartridges. If you have been looking for a very unique and cool investment piece for your collection, this TDE Auto Mag Model 180 would be an excellent choice. This .44 AMP Auto Mag does qualify as a C&R weapon and IS California legal.
