Description:
Matching Pair of Antique English Hopkins Percussion Dueling Pistols

Engraved & Displayed in Glass Topped Case

Here we present an antique Pair of Matching English Hopkins Percussion Pistols, made circa 1850 in London, England. These hefty pistols match both in dimension and style. Each features large, octagonal, solid brass barrels, bored to .60 caliber. “London” is marked on the top of the barrel flat; the Birmingham crown and crossed scepters proof marks are present on the left side of the barrel flat. Lock is a back action style, engraved and marked with the maker’s name: “Hopkins”. Barrel, barrel tang, nipple bolster, lock, hammer, trigger guard and ramrod retainer are all nicely engraved. Wood from the stocks and the ramrods appear to match and ramrods are original. Checkering is hand-carved. These are full sized, go to war pistols of the mid-1800s and very well could have also served in a dueling role. They are understated and practical, but beautiful in their own right.

These specimens are both in fine condition. Bores are smoothbore and clear. Actions are strong. Nipples are in very good condition. Finish on the lock, hammer and barrel tang is in very good condition. Wear on each of the stocks is even. Both are structurally sound with no cracks or weaknesses. Both are in fine condition. A great pair of pistols that have stuck together for the last 160 years.

Case is glass topped with lockable latches.

This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 8-3/8 inches in length.

Caliber: .60 percussion

Bore is smooth in very good condition. The firearm is in excellent working order.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Here is a fantastic cased pair of British pistols for display on your desk or library.
