c.1820s Antique American ARTILLERY Saber by WOLFE
Featuring an Etched Blade and Bone Grip
Here we present an Antique American Artillery Saber, made circa the 1820s. This beautiful saber would have been privately purchased by an officer from C & J.D. Wolfe in New York City. This sword features a sweeping blade engraved and washed in gold and finished in nitre blue. The bone handle is carved in an aesthetically pleasing way that would have provided some measure of traction. The spine is marked “Sold by C&J.D. Wolfe New York”.
The overall condition is very good. The etched blade is 30 inches in length. Much of the gold and nitre blue has worn away with time and use. The grip is in very good shape and smooth. Here is a very beautifully-appointed US officer’s sword for your collection!
