Winchester Model 1876 45-60 Octagon Rifle Made 1887 with standard 28" barrel, full magazine, crescent butt with trap door butt plate, walnut stocks, semi-buckhorn rear sight and early series 21 front sight without the set screw, blued finish with brass carrier, case hardened lever/hammer/butt plate and fore end cap. Price $1995 with free shipping by USPS Priority Mail; insurance and tracking included.
CONDITION: Barrel retains some bright blue in the protected areas, otherwise a light patina. Mag tube has turned patina. Frame has turned a mix of brown and patina with traces of original blue around the side plates and stronger blue on the bottom tang/trigger area. Hammer has brilliant case colors, either redone or from another rifle. Lever latch and hammer screw are replacements and lever latch has no tension so I'm guessing the spring is missing. Butt stock shows typical nicks, dings and scratches with some wear loss on the bottom at toe. No extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Still tight at tangs. Fore arm show typical nicks, dings and scratches with some wear loss along the upper left, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. No rods in trap door; trap door still slides properly. Strong action and hammer spring. Half cock safety functions as it should. Very good plus bore with plenty of sharp rifling and just minor light black powder fouling; should make a great shooter upon inspection by a competent gunsmith. All markings are clear except for the caliber marking on the brass carrier, which shows carry wear, so only the "60" of the "45-60" remains. All in all grades NRA Antique Very Good and a good representation of the model to add to your Winchester collection.
