Description:
Antique COLT ARTILLERY Single Action Army REVOLVER

U.S. Marked from the Spanish-American War Period

Here we present an antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver Artillery Model, the frame made in 1874. The Colt Single Action Army is a worldwide icon of the United States of America and the Western Frontier. Wielded by both the worst of men and the best, the famous Single Action Army is also well-known as the Peacemaker.

The Artillery, or Springfield Armory Model of the SAA, is a period (1895-1903) armory or factory refinished gun to extend U.S. military service. Only about 17,000 of these refurbished guns were completed. In all but the rarest variant of the already rare Artillery Model, the serial numbers will usually be mixed.  Many of these saw action in the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War.

This one bears the inspection marks of Henry Nettleton on the trigger guard. “P” proof mark is located on the side of the cylinder. “S” is on the back of the cylinder. “G” is located on the barrel under the ejector. “O” is located on the bottom of the grip frame. “US” is marked on the left side of the frame, next to the patent dates. The Colt barrel address is on top. Finally, there is a 6-pointed star on the right side of the trigger bow, indicating that this one was returned to the factory at some point for work.

The overall condition is fine. This revolver has been nicely refinished. The blue finish is 98%. The markings remain clear. The numbers match on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and grip frame and these were renumbered, to match the frame. The grips are near fine, smooth and solid with minimal handling marks. The bore is in fine condition, clean, bright and sharp. The action is excellent.

This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 5-1/2 inches.

Caliber: .45 Colt

Overall condition as seen in photos.
