Description:
NSN, .577 Cal., 36 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore that has strong rifling. This is an undated, Nepali marked rifle has an overall dark gray patina mottled with smooth plum-brown throughout, and traces of armory blue on the receiver, and lock. The brass trigger guard, buttplate, and nosecap have a mild yellow-ochre patina throughout while the stock has a fairly thick added varnish over numerous minor handling marks and surface blemishes throughout. The rifle comes with a correct iron ramrod as well. The action lock-up is still quite tight and the lock is fully functional. However, the breech lock is mechanically disabled when the hammer is drawn to half or full-cock, and the firing pin has been removed, thus turning the rifle into a percussion arm using large musket caps. This is a very nice looking Nepalese Snider, with a highly unusual conversion to percussion, and rates very good-fine condition overall. Antique
