Winchester Model 21 20 gauge 28-inch barrels
It seems this fine Winchester Model 21 20 ga, serial # 4956 has spent much of it’s lifetime not far from its place of manufacture. It is in outstanding condition in both appearance and function. The gun is not loose in any way shape or form. All numbers match. The gun shows very little cosmetic wear and only the least amounts of handling marks, despite the gun being the favored grouse and quail gun of it’s owner. This shotgun has unmolested/unaltered 28-inch barrels factory choked at Modified and Full. The bores are brilliant as the day they left New Haven. The gun weighs 6lbs 9 ounces. It has a LOP of 14.25 to the front trigger. Drop at Comb is 1.5” and Drop at the Heel is 2.25”. At some point the wood was up graded. It has very distinctive coloration and contrast within its grain. I do not believe the gun has had the metal refinished. The lettering is crisp with no feathering or blurring. The gun was made circa 1935. I have always believed that many firearms and other manufactured goods of the Depression era are simply of superior quality and finish. This gun would seem to be a compelling example of that theory.
