Description:
Browning Superposed pre-war Midas grade O/U 12 gauge shotgun. Not only is it pre-war, it is the second year production of 1932. Configured as a trap gun with 30” (29 ¾”) barrels choked XF/XF (.035” each) in original .729” bores. The vent rib is the “Non Crossfire” style that was standard at the time. This gun has a factory single selective trigger and of course it is long tang/round knob. The forearm I am certain is original to the gun; the buttstock I am not so certain as the few photos that I have found all show a somewhat finer checkering pattern. If it was restocked it was done professionally with excellent Browning-like wood-to-metal fit. The stock has an estimated LOP of 14 ½”, I have allowed and additional ¼” because of the extreme rear position of the trigger! 1 3/8” DAC and 2” DAH with neutral cast.
What is truly spectacular about this gun is the metal. The receiver, barrels and trigger guard retain nearly all of their original finishes and the Midas gold work is exceptional and the Art Deco influence in the gold work is unmistakable.
The gun weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz. and just to top off this extraordinary gun is comes in the original Browning luggage case!
