We are offering for a sale a Civil War era SHARPS Saddle Ring Carbine NEW MODEL 1863 breech loading rifle chambered in .52 caliber. This is an original condition rifle which is need of some repair; The rifle is missing the hammer and hammer bolt. This is a very collectible example!
22” barrel is good with surface wear, oxidation. The bore remains good with scattered surface oxidation; Very good crisp rifling remains. Front sight intact; Rear sight missing. Barrel is marked “New Model 1863” ahead of receiver. The receiver is good with scattered surface, oxidation wear. Left side is marked “Sharps Pat Sept. 12 1848”. The right side has a “US Lawrence Pat April .. 1859” mark and another “Sharps Pat Oct 5th 1852”. The trigger guard lowers breech block properly. The shoulder stock and fore-end are very good with scattered handling wear; Stock has one small closed crack coming from butt-end. Brass buttplate intact.
