SOLD A good plains era rifle with a long 36 1/2" barrel, and the barrel diameter is about 1.300" and theb maker marked back action lock with engraving , and a hunting hound, works well with a very strong mainspring.Nice brass patch box , sliver of wood missing from the left upper edge near the barrel. The nipple had much use and crushed but sparks may get through. Has an iron under rib., and hand forged ramrod , pewter nose cap and brass furniture. The wrist has an old repair with a brass plate, as this is a heavy gun. The front sight is hooded and the rear sight is Rocky Mountain type, needing the riser. Very fancy hand chisel engraved trigger guard. Long bore appers to be .45 cal.and has strong rifling and I'm sure is pitted as I can't see al the way down.This is a bench rest target gun?Overall a quality made `9th century percussion rifle .When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
