ACTION/RECEIVER: Built on the venerable Webley Long Bar action- Bushed Strikers- Double Triggers- 80% Engraving coverage in Fine English Scroll- Bottom Tang Extended to Engraved Steel Grip Cap.

BARRELS: 26” Dovetail Lump Ejector Barrels with Raised Matted Rib and Doll's Head Third Bite- Express Rear Sight with One Standing and Two Folding Leaves- Ramp Front Sight with Fine Bead plus Flip Up Night Sight.

WOOD: Neutral Cast Buttstock with stunning Fiddleback figure- 14 5/8” LOP to Checkered Steel Buttplate with Widow's Peak. Lever Release Forend. Sling Eyes fore and aft.

CONDITION: Excellent- As close to Original as you will find- Receiver Silvered with Even Patina- Bluing at 94%- Wood Solid with Checkering at 96%- Action Tight and On Face- Strong Ejectors – VG/Excellent Bores.

ACCESSORIES: In its original brass cornered canvas trunk case with William Evans trade label. Also included are reloading data, a full set of CH4D reloading dies, new Kynoch headstamped snap caps, 100 pcs new unfired Kynoch brass (for modern Boxer primers), and 8 vintage Kynoch ammo boxes containing 16 pcs old once-fired brass and 11 live rounds old unfired cartridges (all Berdan-primed).

PROVENANCE: William Evans company records indicate this rifle was commissioned in 1907 (name of ordering individual illegible) with final recorded sale to Lt. Col. W.G.S. Mitchell in 1919. Extensive bio on Sir William Gore Sutherland Mitchell documents his rise through the Royal Air Force (RAF), retiring in 1941 at the rank of Air Chief Marshal at which time he became the first RAF Officer to hold the post of “Black Rod” in the House of Lords.
