Description:
Well preserved example considering its 90 years of circulation, here is a very nice Winchester Model 54 early style rifle in 30-06 caliber. Only 50,000 Model 54s were ever produced making them more than 10 times rarer than their immediate successor the incomparable Pre 64 Model 70. Of those 50,000 I would estimate that less than 20% remain unaltered for scope use and/or a host of other abominations. Guns in this fine and unaltered condition are extremely scarce. The correctly rust blued barrel and action of this rifle remains at near 95% with the bottom metal and buttplate showing a bit more patina, but still very good for this model for a factory finish. The original wood finish is also quite nice showing only light use marks with no cracks, deep gouges, or alterations. The rifle is spotless inside with an excellent mirror bore and perfect mechanical function. It retains the correct swivel stud posts and the factory-installed Lyman long slide 48W receiver sight. The S/N is 30*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1930.
