DISCONTINUED, SPECIAL “COUGAR” EDITION OF ALSO DISCONTINUED THOMPSON-CENTER HAWKEN RIFLE. These American made traditional muzzle loaders have always been favored over Italian (and other) imported replicas. The overall fit, finish and quality is hard to beat. The Cougar version of the Hawken was made with a French Grey silver finish and the walnut stock was hand selected for very fancy grain patterns. There is also a matching medallion inletted into the right side of the butt stock showing the T/C cougar ready to pounce with “HAWKEN COUGAR” stamping. Fitted with a factory adjustable rear sight and double set triggers. This one is in .45 caliber- one of the most difficult to locate as most were .50 caliber. The .45 is perfect for round ball target shooting or for small game, yet you can load up with a “Maxie Bullet” (or several other kinds of slugs) and basically have a .45-70 or .45-90 equivalent rifle for large game! These have been unavailable since the 1980s or so and incredibly this rifle appears unfired and has the original box! I’ve been shooting traditional T/C muzzleloaders for years and can attest to their accuracy and total quality! These fancy walnut, limited edition Cougar Hawken rifles are truly beautiful traditional firearms that are just plain fun to shoot.
