Description:
This is a Springfield Armory Model of 1911 manufactured for the US Army in 1915. Springfield Armory produced these pistols under contract during the initial production of the 1911 as Colt was having issues fullfiling the goverment contract. These are very rare as Springfield only produced 12,000 pistols during 1915. This pistol still retains about 80% of its original blued finish. It is parts matching with the small parts having the correct 'S' stamp. It sports the large Springfield hammer only seen on these early 1911's. The grips are the checkered large diamond grips which were only produced on the Springfield Pistols. It is in perfect machanical condition with the original Springfield magazine. It sports the flaming bomb proofs on the left side of the slide and frame with United States Property and has the patent dates of Colt's PT. F.A. MFG.CO. On the right side is the Springfield Eagle with Model of 1911 U.S. Army. This is a special and all original example of the famous 1911 and would be the center piece of any military arms collection.
