British WWII F&S Ribbed and Beaded Third Pattern Fighting Knife, The maker signified by the Broad Arrow/1 is quite rare and found to be of the highest quality with hand ground blades with a small v ricasso on the blade. The overall length is 11 3/4" with a 6 3/4" double-edged spear point blade with a flat grind. The flat steel guard is blued and the ribbed cast brass grip is finished black. The guard is marked ''England'' along with the rear of the scabbard. The blade is strongly blued throughout and rates excellent with no discernible blemishes. The guard exhibits some silvering at the edges and the grip retains about 80% original finish with areas worn to yellow brass scattered throughout. The included leather sheath is in about excellent condition, remaining supple with excellent stitching. This is a rather rare piece in hard to upgrade condition. The beaded and ribbed variant is considered by collectors to be the most attractive of these knives and the most sought after.
